Shoremen Score in Final Minute to Edge Green Terror, 1-0, to Secure Spot in CC Tournament

Gwadz Nets Winner with 43 Seconds Left as Shoremen Will Get to Defend Crown

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Senior forward Eric Gwadz (Washington, D.C./Woodrow Wilson) scored with 43 seconds remaining in the second half from junior defender Chris Comber (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) for the lone goal of the match as visiting Washington College secured a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament with a 1-0 win over host McDaniel on Saturday afternoon at the Soccer Complex in a Centennial Conference men's soccer contest.  The Shoremen are now 5-4-6 overall and 4-1-3 in the Centennial, while the Green Terror is now 8-4-2 and 1-4-2 respectively.

How It Happened
- Alex Coster had the game's first shot in the 19th minute, but McDaniel's Austin Heid made the stop. 
- Brandon Morse had the Green Terror's first shot in the 26th minute, but it was saved by Anthony Pinto.
- Gwadz had back-to-back shots in the 34th minute, but Heid turned away both chances.
- AJ Nordone had the final chance in the opening half, but Anthony Pinto made the save with 3:26 to go.
- In the second half, Gage Souder had the hosts' final shot in the 64th minute, but it was off target.
- WC would take the final six shots of the game and Gwadz would score his first of the season on the sixth and final shot as he headed it into the left side off of a pass from Comber  The sequence began off of a corner kick.

- Scoring: Gwadz (goal), Comber (assist)
- Goalkeeper: Anthony Pinto (2 saves, 0 goals allowed, 90:00)
- Washington had 10 shots and took five corner kicks in the contest.

- Goalkeeper: Heid (4 saves, 1 goal allowed, 90:00)
- The Green Terror took four shots in the contest and had three corners.

Notes
- Washington is in the CC Tournament for the third time overall, as the team qualified in 2016 and 2021.
- Heid was a member of the Shoremen from 2019-21.
