Blue Jays Down Shorewomen, 3-0

Elliott Hits .545 For Washington

BALTIMORE, Md. – Host Johns Hopkins topped visiting Washington College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 31-29) on Wednesday evening in Centennial Conference volleyball action at Goldfarb Gym.  The Blue Jays improve to 17-7 overall and finish the regular season 10-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 10-13 on the year and 2-7 in the Centennial.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen won four of the first five points before the Blue Jays went on an 8-3 run to take a 9-7 lead on a bad set by WC and it was a lead Johns Hopkins would not relinquish.  Roxy Karrer would end the opening set on a service ace.
- Leading 11-9 in the second set, Johns Hopkins won 14 of the last 20 points to win the second set by 10 points.  Helena Swaak concluded the second set with a kill.    
- Washington led 28-27 in the third set and were a point away from forcing a fourth set, but the Blue Jays won four of the final five points to win the set and match.  Tied at 29-29, Simone Adam netted a kill to give the hosts a 30-29 edge and Lida King clinched the contest with a kill.

For The Shorewomen (10-13, 2-7 CC)
- Angelina Schaber (eight kills to lead team), Chelsea Elliott (seven kills and hit .545), Allison McKechnie (14 assists), Jordan Fairchild (six digs), Victoria Kile (two aces) 
- Team hit .125 in the match, recorded four rejections and tallied four aces.

For Johns Hopkins (17-7, 10-0 CC)
- Karrer (11 kills and three aces), Adam (11 kills), Swaak (22 assists), Annelisa O'Neal (10 assists), Evelyn Batista (six digs)
- The Blue Jays hit .424 in the contest, had five blocks and 10 aces.
