Shoremen Victorious on Senior Day Over Red Devils, 1-0, to Earn Two Seed in CC Tournament

Washington and Dickinson Even in Shots at 10-10

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The host Shoremen and the visiting Red Devils from Dickinson found themselves in a tight matchup, nearly matching each other in stats with a lone goal by senior forward Ben Strine (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum School) 4:40 into the game being the difference maker on Saturday afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in the regular season finale in Centennial Conference men's soccer play.  Washington moves to 7-4-6 overall and 5-1-3 in CC play while Dickinson falls to 7-7-3 overall and 3-4-2 in CC play. The Shoremen earned the two seed with their win and loss by #15 Johns Hopkins to #9 Franklin & Marshall in Baltimore.  Washington College took a total of 10 shots with five of them being on target, while Dickinson had 10 shots of its own, with three ending up on goal.

How It Happened
- Dickinson opened the contest with the first shot in the third minute as Tyson Burling sent it wide of the goal.
- The lone goal was scored early in the contest as Strine managed to send it up and over Andrew Kempe in the fifth minute.
- While Tim Loeffler started the game it was Anthony Pinto who recorded the save after Geoffrey Ogenrwot took a header that almost leveled the contest in the 17th minute.
- In the second half Dickinson had another chance to equalize as Saul Iwowo sent it wide of the net in the 69th minute.
- Strine almost notched himself a brace for the match as his shot in the 70th minute went just high of the goal.
- The last shot taken in the contest was by the Red Devil's Luke Beiles in the 87th minute as it was blocked by the Shoremen.
