SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore scored two first half goals and held off a comeback attempt by visiting Washington College to come away with a 2-1 win on Wednesday evening at Clothier Field in a Centennial Conference women's soccer contest.  The Garnet improve to 8-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 4-2-4 and 1-1-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Garnet took a 1-0 lead at the 22:41 mark when Kim Kockenmeister scored into an empty net on a pass from Rebecca Putnam following a turnover by the Shorewomen.
- Swarthmore extended its lead to two Allie Zitelli put a shot into the upper left corner from 25 yards out with 2:02 remaining in the first half as the hosts took a two-goal lead into halftime.
- Washington got one back just 5:38 into the second half when Lauren Maynor got the ball and split two Swarthmore defenders and her shot found its way into the lower right corner from the top of the box to trim the lead to 2-1.  Maynor's goal came less than a minute after the Garnet's Amelia Mounts hit the crossbar on a free kick.
- The Shorewomen had three shots after the goal to tie, but could not find the tying score.  The Shorewomen's final chance came with 8:40 left on a shot on goal by Kayla Streett, but it was saved by Swarthmore goalie Dahlia Bedward.

- Goalkeepers: Hailey Sharpe (4 saves, 2 goals allowed, 90:00) 
- Totaled 12 shots and one corner kick for the match. 

For Swarthmore (8-2-1, 2-1-1 CC)
- Scorers: Kockenmeister (goal), Zitelli (goal), Putnam (assist)
- Goalkeeper: Lillian Keller (3 saves, 0 goals allowed, 45:00), Bedward (4 saves, 1 goal allowed, 45:00)
- Took 16 shots and five corner kicks in the contest.

Notes
- Maynor's goal was Washington's first against Swarthmore since Olivia Sabatino '19 scored on October 4, 2017 in Chestertown and the first goal at Swarthmore by the Shorewomen since October 1, 2005 in a 1-1 tie when Katie Dulany '06 netted a goal.
