Marson Tallies Defensive Save for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Franklin & Marshall scored twice after halftime for the only goals of the game in a 2-0 win over host Washington College in a Centennial Conference field hockey game on Saturday evening on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.  The Diplomats improve to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial.

How It Happened
- F&M had the first shot on goal 5:49 into the first quarter by Carolina Riley, but it was saved by WC goalie Ava Rivera.
- Julianna Sterling had the Shorewomen's first shot with 3:06 to go in the first, but it went just wide.
- Kyra Heap had Washington's first shot on target 96 seconds into the second quarter, but it was turned away by Diplomats' goalie Sydney Lippe.
- In the third quarter, Amelia McCarthy had her shot blocked, but she gathered the rebound and found Jessica Miller who poked the ball into the cage to give F&M a 1-0 lead with 6:23 to go.
- Miller almost got her second goal of the game just 63 seconds later, but WC's Emily Marson stopped it for a defensive save and it would be a one-goal game going into the fourth.
- Kat Study gave F&M an insurance goal 3:26 into the fourth as she gathered a loose ball and blasted it into the lower left corner to make it 2-0.
- Washington got two shots after the second goal, but neither were on target.

- Goalkeeper: Rivera (4 saves, 2 goals allowed, 60:00)
- Marson: Defensive Save
- Washington had five shots and six penalty corners in the contest.

For Franklin & Marshall (8-3, 4-0 CC)

- Goalkeeper: Lipper (2 saves, 0 goals allowed, 60:00)
- The Diplomats had 14 shots and seven penalty corners in the game.
