CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior forward Ben Strine (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) converted a penalty kick with 1:50 left in the second half to tie the game for Washington College as WC and visiting #5 Johns Hopkins played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in a Centennial Conference men's soccer contest. The Shoremen are now 3-4-4 overall and 2-1-2 in the Centennial, while the fifth-ranked Blue Jays are 9-0-3 and 4-0-1 respectively.

How It Happened
- Shoremen had an early chance in the fourth minute on a header by Chris Comber, but was blocked by the Hopkins defense.
- Axel Whamond puts the Blue Jays ahead at the 23:04 mark when his shot found the bottom right corner from 18 yards out for the first goal of the afternoon. Tyler White picked up the assist on the goal.
- After the goal in the 26th minute, Washington's Harrison Malone had two shots on goal one being blocked and the other being saved.
- In the early minutes of the second half, the Shoremen's Cole Gifford took a shot at 52:28 but it sailed over the crossbar.
- The Blue Jays Jonathan Cui had a chance for a goal in the 64th minute but was saved by Shoreman goalie Anthony Pinto.
- Washington's Strine tied the game in the 89th minute with a penalty kick following a foul in the box by Hopkins.
- Johns Hopkins' Tim Treinen almost won it for the visitors with 1:20 remaining, but his shot went just over the crossbar from about 15 yards out.

Notes
- Hopkins gave up its first goal, second on the year, since its second game of the season at Lycoming on September 4, ending 932:56 of consecutive shutout play.
