Diplomats Best Shorewomen in Three Sets

Fairchild Leads WC With 13 Digs

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Franklin & Marshall topped host Washington College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-14) on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference volleyball action at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium.  The Diplomats improve to 11-6 overall and 4-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen drop to 10-8 and 2-2 respectively.    

Franklin & Marshall 3 Washington College 0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-14)

How It Happened
- Trailing 19-9 in the first set, the Shorewomen scored nine of the next 11 points to cut the lead to 21-18 on a Lindsay Saddic kill.  However, F&M would win four of the next five points to take the set with Lauren Arnold notching a kill to end it.
- Tied 17-17 in the second set, the Diplomats won the last eight points to grab the second.  An attack miscue by Washington started the run and Gianna Mangiamele concluded the set with a kill.    
- Leading 13-9 in the third set, Franklin & Marshall won 12 of the final 17 points to win the set and match.  A Sydney Levins service ace ended the contest.

For The Shorewomen (10-8, 2-2 CC)
- Sylvia Johnson (eight kills), Brooklynn Pugner (12 assists), Alison McKechnie (11 assists), Jordan Fairchild (13 digs), Logan Kenny (three bocks) 
- Team hit .129 in the contest, notched three rejections and served up four aces.

For Franklin & Marshall (11-6, 4-0 CC)
- Mangiamele (10 kills), Liah Perez (16 assists, 10 digs and four aces), Hannah McCarthy (13 assists), Meredith Mangum (13 digs)
- The Diplomats hit .326 in the contest, had five blocks and 11 aces.
