CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College let a 16-point third quarter lead evaporate to just a single point, 48-47, with 37 seconds left, but the Shorewomen scored the game's final four points to come away with a 52-47 win over visiting Marymount on Tuesday night in the home opener for WC in non-conference women's basketball action. The Shorewomen improve to 2-0 overall, while the Saints drop to 3-1.

How It Happened
- Washington took a 9-0 lead with 7:20 to go in the first quarter on a three-point play by
Andrea Prestianne. The Shorewomen took a 22-7 lead into the second quarter
- Marymount would outscore Washington 13-4 in the second to cut the lead to 26-20 at halftime as
Kyla Treadwell hit a jumper with 15 seconds left to cut the lead to six.
- In the third quarter, the Shorewomen would score the first 10 points to take their biggest lead of the game of 16 points at 36-20 following a layup by
Lizzie Hudock. WC would lead again by 16 late in the third, 41-25, with 1:39 remaining on two Sanders free throws.
- Trailing 41-29 entering the fourth quarter, the Saints would score 11 of the first 14 points of the fourth to trim the lead to 44-40 with 5:58 to go on a lay-in by
Chandler Eddleton.
- The Shorewomen led 48-42 with 3:06 left on a fast-break bunny by Prestianne before the Saints scored five straight to cut the lead to 48-47 with 37 ticks to go on two Treadwell free throws.
- On the ensuing possession,
Amari Faust was fouled and canned two from the line to give the hosts a 50-47 advantage with 27 seconds remaining.
- Marymount went for the tie on a three-point try by
Symantha Shackelford, but it was off the mark and Faust got the board. She would hit one-of-two from the foul stripe to make it a 51-47 game with 21 seconds left.
- After a turnover by the Saints, Prestianne made one-of-two from the free throw line to cap the scoring.

- WC shot 38% from the floor (17-for-45), 25% from three-point range (2-for-8) and 62% (16-for-26) from the foul line in the game.
- Washington held a 41-35 advantage in rebounds in the win.
- The Shorewomen turned it over 32 times.
- WC outscored Marymount fast break points, 6-2.

- The Saints shot 26% from the floor (16-for-61), 6% from three-point land (2-for-29) and 68% from the foul stripe (13-for-19).
- Marymount outscored Washington, 23-19, in points off turnovers, 13-4 in bench points and 12-4 in second chance points in the game.
- The Saints coughed it up 25 times in the contest.
Notes
- Sanders was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game. She notched her second career double-double as she had 11 points and 10 boards at Bryn Mawr in November 2021. Sanders got her double-double with a defensive rebound on the final shot of the game by Marymount. Her 17 points were a personal-best.
- Both WC double-doubles so far this season have involved exactly 17 points and 10 rebounds as
Karry Kelliher had the same stat line last Tuesday at Notre Dame (Md.).
- It was the first all-time meeting between the Shorewomen and Saints on the hardwood.
- Each team scored 22 points in the paint in the game.
