BALTIMORE, Md. – The Washington College men's basketball team traveled to Division I Loyola (Md.) to play an exhibition against the Greyhounds on Thursday night at Reitz Arena and fell 81-53. The game did count in the standings for the Greyhounds and they improve to 2-2 on the season.
Washington trailed 16-10 with 10:28 left in the first half following a three-pointer by
Zach Genther before Loyola went on a 13-2 run to take a 29-12 lead with 6:24 remaining on a Tyson Commander three. The Greyhounds led 41-23 at halftime. Loyola held a 40-30 advantage in the second half to provide the final margin.Â
Nick Romeo had team-bests of nine points and four rebouns, while
Kedrick Frink added eight points and squad-highs of three assists and two steals.

Aaron Goodman said tonight's game was a valuable experience for the team. Â
"I'm proud of the way our team competed and executed against a tough Division I opponent. Loyola helped us grow individually and collectively."
The two teams, who first met in the 1915-16 season, played annually from 1919-20 through 1977-78. Tonight was the first meeting between Washington and Loyola since a 54-47 Loyola win in the 1984-85 season.
The Shoremen (0-1) are back in action on Tuesday night as they travel to Haverford to open their Centennial Conference slate with tip slated for 8:00 p.m.
