HAVERFORD, Pa. – Host Haverford used a 13-2 first half to take the lead for good on its way to a 78-56 win over visiting Washington College on Tuesday night at Gooding Arena in the Centennial Conference men's basketball opener for both teams. The Fords improve 2-3 overall, while the Shoremen are 0-2.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen took their first lead of the game on a three-pointer by
Will Matheny with 13:20 left in the first half, 15-12.Â
- Down 18-17 with 10:58 left in the first half, Haverford scored 13 of the next 15 points to take a 30-20 advantage with 4:44 to go in the stanza on a
Nate Torres three that beat the shot clock.
- Haverford would take a 41-26 lead into halftime.
- In the second half, Washington opened the half on a 13-6 run to cut the lead to 47-39 with 14:31 to go in the game on
a Zack Skrocki lay-in.
- The Fords would answer with a 9-4 run to reclaim their 15-point lead at 56-41 with 11:32 left on a
Dhruv Mehrotra jumper. Â The lead would fluctuate between 12 and 24 points the rest of the game.
