Bobcats Get Past Shoremen, 96-89, as Romeo Earns Spot on All-Tournament Team

Frink Scores Team-High 23 Points and Corrao Chalks Up First Career Double-Double

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Pitt-Greensburg got a game-high 24 points from JoJo France in a 96-89 victory over Washington College on Friday afternoon in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Memorial Gymnasium in the consolation game of the Doc Greene Tournament hosted by Pitt-Greensburg.  The Bobcats are now 4-7 on the season, while the Shoremen are 1-8.  Senior guard Nick Romeo (Ambler, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) was named to the Doc Greene Tournament All-Tournament Team.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen hit three three-pointers in the first 3:24 to take a 9-0 lead as Sam Corrao capped the flurry after Romeo drained the first two.
- Pitt-Greensburg answered with 10 unanswered points to grab a 10-9 lead with 12:37 to go in the first half on a free throw France.
- Washington countered with nine straight points to retake the lead at 18-10 with 10:30 left in the stanza on a triple by Jason Zielinski.
- Trailing 21-12 with 9:13 remaining in the first half, the Bobcats went on a 13-3 run to grab at 25-24 lead with 5:57 remaining on a France lay-in.
- Pitt-Greensburg used a 12-0 spurt to turn a 27-25 deficit with 4:55 to go in the first into a 37-27 lead with 1:24 remaining on two France free throws.  The Bobcats took a 39-32 lead into halftime.
- The Bobcats scored 17 of the first 26 points in the second half to take a 56-41 lead with 14:50 remaining on a Matthew Marinchak layup.
- Washington would score the next seven points to trim the Pitt-Greensburg lead to 56-48 with 13:29 left on a Precieux Tshibangu lay-in.
- The Shoremen got within six at 70-64 on a Romeo three with 6:03 to go before the Bobcats went on a 14-2 run to take an 84-66 lead with 2:35 remaining on a free throw by Reggie Priah.  The Shoremen would get it within seven on two occasions in the final 10 seconds of the contest.

For The Shoremen (1-8)
- Corrao (14 points and 10 rebounds for first career double-double; game-high and career-best in boards), Kedrick Frink (team-bests of 23 points, five assists and two steals), Romeo (personal-best 18 points), Zielinski (14 points), Tshibangu (10 points)
- The Shoremen shot 44% (31-for-71) from the floor, 37% (14-for-38) from three-point range and 50% (13-for-26) from the foul stripe. 
- Washington outscored the Bobcats in second chance points (22-13) and bench points (24-21).
- The Shoremen had 14 turnovers and held a 43-36 advantage in rebounds.

For Pitt-Greensburg (4-7)
- France (game-high 24 points), Priah (19 points), Jaylen Williams (13 points and seven rebounds), Octavius Hardy (11 points), Marinchak (10 points), Armend Karpuzi (five steals to lead all players)
- The Bobcats shot 57% (33-for-58) from the floor, 45% (13-for-29) from three-point range and 61% (17-for-28) from the free throw line.    
- Pitt-Greensburg outscored WC in points in the paint (38-32), points off turnovers (22-20) and transition points (14-3).
- The Bobcats had 12 turnovers in the game.

Notes
- It was the first meeting between the Shoremen and Bobcats all-time.
- Corrao notched his first career double-double with his 14 points and 10 boards.  His previous high in rebounds was seven against Immaculata on November 9, 2021.
