Women's Lacrosse Runs Away From Randolph-Macon in the Snow; Keefe Collects 100th Career Point

Ashland, Va. – The No. 24 ranked Washington College women's lacrosse team defeated the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets, 11-5, in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon. Senior attacker Colleen Keefe (Timonium, Md/Notre Dame Prep) scored four goals and distributed three assists (career-high), becoming the 31st player in program-history to record 100 career points. The game was played under difficult conditions on a snow-covered Nunnally Field. The Shorewomen improve to 2-3 while the Yellow Jackets drop to 2-3.

How It Happened
- Washington College got on the board first as Keefe capitalized on a free position shot just over three minutes into the contest.
- Randolph-Macon evened the game when Lily Henderson answered with a free position goal at the 8:22 mark.
- The Shorewomen responded just twenty ticks later as sophomore attacker Morgan Sutherland scored another free position goal with a shot to the lower-right corner.
- The hosts then scored back-to-back goals to take their first lead of the contest. McKenzie Hynson found Rianna Lowery for the equalizer at the 7:52 mark. Kayla Ross then scored from point-blank range after taking a feed from Logan Schweiger with 4:31 left in the opening quarter.
- The visitors, who outscored the hosts by a 3-0 count in the second quarter, knotted the contest when junior midfielder Ellie Morrall made a run straight down the middle and scored an unassisted goal at the 11:42 mark of the second quarter.
- The Shorewomen then scored a pretty goal with 9:08 left in the half, taking the lead for good at 4-3. Keefe made a dash to the goal along the right-side and spotted sophomore midfielder Abby Laubach in front after she made a cut across the middle. Laubach then deposited a shot into the upper-right quadrant of the net.
- With the Maroon & White on a power play, Keefe displayed her toughness as she bulled her way towards the goal along the left-side and scored with defenders draped all over her with 4:42 left before halftime.
- Sophomore attacker Ashley Devlin widened the lead to 6-3 just 44 seconds into the third quarter as she scored from point-blank range after taking a pass from freshman attacker Tobin Chambers.
- The hosts scored back-to-back goals to close within 6-5 with 9:59 left in the third quarter. Hynson scored a free position goal and Evie McNeally took a feed from Schweiger for the other tally.
- Washington College re-grouped and scored the final five goals to put the game away. 
- Senior midfielder Molly Sharp broke free and dashed right down the middle for a goal into the upper right corner at the 8:33 mark.
- Keefe scored along the right-side after receiving a pass from Chambers with 3:23 left in the third.
- Keefe then recorded her 100th career point on a free position tally to the upper left corner with 12:36 left in the contest.
- Washington continued to pour it on as Sunderland scored on an assist from Keefe at the 11:33 mark and then Keefe found Chambers with 8:10 left to make it 11-5 to close out the scoring.

For the Shorewomen
- Keefe (11 shots) produced four goals and three assists to lead the way. She became the 31st player in program-history to reach 100 career points and now has 91 goals and 11 assists.
- Sunderland added two goals and Chambers finished with two assists.
- Senior midfielder Sydney Allender picked up an assist and registered a team-high five ground balls.
- Junior Sydney Wingate was sensational in goal and made seven stops in 58:10 minutes.

For the Yellow Jackets
- Five different players scored a goal for Randolph-Macon.
- Schweiger recorded a team-best two assists.
- Italia Carnazza led the team with five ground balls.
- Caraline Cypher made 11 saves in 60 minutes.

Notes
- The Shorewomen outshot the hosts by a decisive 30-19 margin.
- Washington won 13-of-20 draw controls.
- The Yellow Jackets were whistled for 15 fouls compared to nine by the Shorewomen.
- Keefe is the 14th Shorewoman to record 100 career points since 2011. Lauren Brenner '20 was the last player to reach the milestone (4/13/19).
