Box Score Morrall Wins Seven Draws and Notches Three Points on Two Goals and One Assist

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting #18 York (Pa.) led 9-7 with 7:01 remaining before scoring the game's final six goals to come away with a 15-7 win over host Washington College in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr., Stadium.  It was the season opener for the Spartans, while the Shorewomen drop to 1-1

How It Happened
 - York scored the game's first two goals in a span of 40 seconds to lead 2-0 with 11:25 left in the first quarter on a Chloe MacDonald score.  The Spartans led 3-1 after one quarter.
 - Washington would get two quick goals early in the second quarter to tie it at 3-3 with 11:50 to go on a free position goal by Abby Laubach.  Tobin Chambers scored her first career goal 41 seconds prior.
 - The Spartans would take the lead for the rest of the game 50 seconds after Laubach's score as Maidson Kurland finished off a pass from Celly Arthur to give the visitors a 4-3 edge.  York would score the last two goals to take a 6-3 lead into halftime.
 - In the third quarter, after Ellie Morrall trimmed the lead to 6-4 with 12:17 remaining, the Spartans scored the next three to push their advantage to 9-4 with 2:09 to go on a Jen Campbell score from Kiersten Blanchard.
 - Ashley Devlin would get one back with 26.6 seconds left in the third quarter to reduce the lead to 9-5 heading into the fourth.
 - Washington would score the first two goals of the fourth quarter to reduce the lead to 9-7 with 7:01 left on a Laubach free position goal.
 - The Shorewomen would win the ensuing draw, but would turn it over and the Spartans picked up the ground ball and would capitalize on the turnover with a Jenna Cholowinski goal to make it 10-7 with 6:04 left.
 - The goal would start a game-closing 6-0 run for York as Gianna Huet capped it with 1:09 to go.
 For The Shorewomen (1-1)
 - Scoring: Morrall (two goals and one assist), Laubuch (two scores)
 - In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, career-high 14 saves, 15 goals)
 - Morrall (seven draws and three ground balls), Colleen Keefe (two caused turnovers)
 - WC went 14-for-16 in clears, went 3-for-9 in free position shots and had 15 ground balls.
 For #18 York (Pa.) (1-0)
 - Scoring: MacDonald (five goals), Blanchard (three goals and two assists), Cholowinski (two goals and two helpers), Campbell (two goals and one assist) Kurland (two goals)
 - In Goal: Riley DiFiore (60:00, 11 saves, seven goals)
 - Cholowinski (game-high eight draw controls), Emmy Bryden (contest-best four ground balls)
 - York outshot Washington, 35-24, held a 17-9 advantage in draws and and had 19 ground balls.
 - The Spartans went 20-for-22 in clears and went 5-for-9 in free position chances.
Notes
 - Morrall was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the broadcast.
 - York had 18 turnovers, while Washington turned it over 17 times in the game.
