Shorewomen Win Conference Lid Lifter over Mules, 14-10

Laubach Scores Three Times, Hands Out Three Helpers and Wins Five Draws

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College used a 6-0 run spanning the first and second quarters to take the lead for good to come away with a 14-10 win over visiting Muhlenberg in a Centennial Conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr., Stadium.  The Shorewomen improve to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Mules drop to 6-1 and 0-1 respectively.

How It Happened
- Trailing 2-1 with 7:49 left in the first quarter following a Samantha Eynon goal from Ellsa Peabody, Washington scored the last five goals to take a 6-2 lead after one quarter.  Sydney Allender put the Shorewomen ahead for good, 3-2, from Abby Laubach with 6:24 to go in the first.  Ellie Morrall netted a score with eight-tenths of a second left to cap the scoring.
- Colleen Keefe finished off the six-goal run on a free position 90 seconds into the second quarter to make it 7-2.
- Muhlenberg would score five of the last six goals of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 8-7 at halftime with Nicole Steiner finishing off a transition feed from Melissa Pierpont to make it a one-goal game at halftime.
- In the third quarter, Washington scored twice in 46 seconds to take a 10-7 lead with 13:25 to go on an unassisted goal by Ashley DevlinMolly Sharpe scored the first goal of the third 49 ticks in from Morgan Sutherland.  The Shorewomen took an 11-8 lead into the fourth.
- The Mules would score two of the first three goals in the fourth to trim the lead to 12-10 with 3:56 to go on a Lily Seifert score from Hannah Wolfe.
- WC would get a free position goal from Laubach with 2:41 to make it 13-10 and Sutherland finished off the scoring unassisted with 72 seconds remaining to close out the scoring.

For The Shorewomen (3-5, 1-0 CC)
- Scoring: Laubach (game-bests of three goals, three assists, six points, three caused turnovers and five draw controls), Sutherland (three goals and one assist), Allender (three goals), Devlin (two goals), Sharpe (one goal and one assist)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, seven saves, 10 goals allowed)
- Morrall (game-high five ground balls)
- WC was 16-for-16 in clears, went 5-for-8 in free position shots and had 23 ground balls.
- The Shorewomen held a 37-25 advantage in shots, scored one up goal, won 15 of the game's 28 draw controls and had four fewer turnover than the Mules, 15-11.

For Muhlenberg (6-1, 0-1 CC)
- Scoring: Eynon (three goals and one assist), Seifert and Steiner (two goals), Wolfe (one goal and one assist)
- In Goal: Ellison Ervin (60:00, 14 saves, 14 goals allowed)
- Seifert (four draw controls)
- Muhlenberg had 12 ground balls and scored two up goals.
- The Mules were 14-for-19 in clears and went 2-for-4 in free position chances.

Notes
- Laubach was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewomen Player of the Game on the broadcast.
- Washington is now 24-11 all-time against Muhlenberg and the 24 wins against the Mules ties the Shorewomen for the most wins against an opponent.  WC has also won 24 times against Bryn Mawr.
