SALISBURY, Md. – Visiting #1 Salisbury jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead and held off host Washington College, 8-6, in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Saturday evening on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. The Sea Gulls improve to 5-0 on the year, while the Shorewomen slip to 1-2.

How It Happened
- Erin Scannell scored both first quarter goals for Salisbury as the Sea Gulls led 2-0 after one quarter.
- Colleen Keefe would get the Shorewomen on the board with 8:44 left in the second quarter on a feed from Abby Laubach.
- Scannaell would answer just 22 seconds after Keefe's score to make it 3-1 and Lily Cavallaro notched an unassisted goal to extend the lead to 4-1 with 3:21 remaining and that would be the halftime score.
- In the third quarter, Washington would get it within two goals on three occasions, the last being on a Keefe unassisted tally with 3:01 left to cut it to 6-4, but Scannell would respond with her fifth goal of the game with 1:11 remaining in the third to give the guests a 7-4 advantage heading into the fourth.
- Ashley Devlin netted an up goal with 7:53 to go in the fourth quarter from Laubach to cut it to 7-5 before Camryn Pepper answered for Salisbury to push the edge back to 8-5 with 4:46 to go.
- Morgan Sutherland would tally 40 seconds after Pepper's score to reduce the lead to 8-6, but the Shorewomen could not get any closer and Salisbury held on for the two-goal win.
For The Shorewomen (1-2)
- Scoring: Keefe (three goals), Laubach (two assists)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, 12 saves, eight goals; three ground balls)
- Laubach (five draw controls)
- WC went 14-for-18 in clears, went 1-for-6 in free position shots and had 12 ground balls.
For #1 Salisbury (5-0)
- Scoring: Scannell (five goals), Cavallaro (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Mary Claire Hisle (60:00, six saves, six goals)
- Leah Vilov (four draw controls and game-best four caused turnovers)
- The Sea Gulls went 17-for-19 in clears and had 11 fewer turnovers than WC, 24-13.
- Salisbury did not attempt a free position shot and totaled 20 ground balls.
- The guests won 10 of the 18 draws in the game as they held a 31-15 advantage in shots.
