Keefe Nets 100th Career Goal as Washington is Topped by McDaniel, 19-11

Senior Becomes 16th Player in Program History to Reach Century Mark in Scores

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Host McDaniel got a game-high nine goals from Kealey Allison and never trailed in a 19-11 win over visiting Washington College on Wednesday afternoon at Gill Stadium in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action.  In the contest, WC senior attacker Colleen Keefe (Timonium, Md./Notre Dame Prep) became the 16th player in Shorewomen history to score 100 career goals as she now has 102 all-time scores with her team-best five goals.  The Green Terror is now to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 3-7 and 1-2 respectively.

How It Happened
- McDaniel would jump out to a 4-1 lead 4:48 into the first quarter on an Emma Miller goal and would lead 5-2 after one.
- After Allison gave the Green Terror a 6-2 advantage just 16 seconds into the second quarter, the Shorewomen would score four of the next six to trim the lead to 8-6 with 5:10 remaining in second on an up goal by Chloe Sass.
- The hosts would answer with the final three of the second to take an 11-6 lead into halftime as Allison scored off of a rebound of her own shot with 1.3 ticks left to round out the scoring.
- Washington tallied three of the first four goals of the third quarter to cut the lead to 12-9 on Keefe's 100th career goal that was off of a free position.
- McDaniel countered with two goals to take a 14-9 cushion heading into the fourth as Allison scored with 16 seconds remaining.
- In the fourth, the Green Terror outscored the Shorewomen 5-2 to provide the final margin.

For The Shorewomen (3-7, 1-2 CC)
- Scoring: Keefe (team-highs of five goals and seven points), Ashley Devlin and Morgan Sutherland (three assists to tie for game-high), Sydney Allender (two goals and five draw controls), Sass (goal and assist; three caused turnovers)
- In Goal: Sydney Wingate (60:00, eight saves, 19 goals allowed)
- Alexis Tackney (four ground balls and three caused turnovers) and Abby Laubach (five draws)
- The Shorewomen had 17 caused turnovers.
- WC went 13-for-17 in clears, went 2-for-7 in free position shots and picked up 23 ground balls.

For McDaniel (7-3, 2-1 CC)
- Scoring: Allison (nine goals and 10 points; game-high 10 draw controls and four caused turnovers in addition to four ground balls), Miller (three goals and one assist), Natalie Hoff (one goal and three helpers), Emma Legacy and Emily Sheppard (two goals and one helper)
- In Goal: Caroline Ramsey (30:00, seven saves, five goals allowed), Hannah Miller (25:45, five saves, four goals allowed), Astrid Jensen (4:15, zero saves, two goals allowed)
- The Green Terror won 20-of-33 draw controls, went 16-for-24 in clears and had four more turnovers than WC, 19-15.
- McDaniel, who outshot Washington 34-29, went 4-for-5 in free position chances, totaled 11 ground balls and recorded 11 caused turnovers.

Notes
- Keefe became the first Washington player to notch 100 career goals since Kristy Grovom '19 did it also against McDaniel on March 30, 2019.  With her five finishers today, Keefe now has 102 scores for her career.
- The Shorewomen had their 11-game winning streak against the Green Terror come to an end this afternoon as it was McDaniel's first win in the series since an 18-12 win in 2010.
