Washington College Athletics to Enshrine Three New Members Into Hall of Fame on October 28th; Will Honor 2008 NCAA Women's Rowing Team

Rachel Glasser '11 (Women's Swimming), Kevin Thibadeau '06 (Men's Lacrosse) and Mike Davenport (Women's Rowing Head Coach) to be inducted on October 28th; First NCAA Women's Rowing Team will be honored

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College Athletics will enshrine three new members into its Hall of Fame on Friday, October 28th. The event, which will kick-off Alumni Weekend for the department, will honor Rachel Glasser '11 (Women's Swimming), Kevin Thibadeau '06 (Men's Lacrosse) and Mike Davenport (Women's Rowing Coach/Athletics Administrator). In addition, the 2008 women's rowing team, the first in the program's history to compete at the NCAA Championships, will also be honored.  

Glasser is the most decorated swimmer in program history as a seven-time All-American and two-time Scholar All-American. The Silver Spring, Maryland product holds the school records in the 500 freestyle, 1000 freestyle, 1650 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 200 freestyle, and is a member of all five school-record relay teams. Glasser garnered All-America honorable mention in the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships to finish her career with seven All-America or All-America honorable mention performances. She was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer for the third year in a row at the 2011 Centennial Conference Championships, becoming just the second female swimmer ever to do so.

Thibadeau started the final two campaigns in goal after being mentored by Hall of Famer Rich Yost as an underclassman. His play in the cage those two seasons were two of the most impressive performances in the history of the program. The Cheshire, Connecticut native helped lead the Maroon and White to a combined record of 24-10 and a Centennial Conference championship in 2006. As a senior that season, the team reached the NCAA Division III quarterfinals and Thibadeau was selected to the All-America third team following the campaign. He also ranked in the top five in the country in save percentage (.678) and goals against average (6.03) in 2006. In total, Thibadeau dressed for the NCAA Tournament three times and the Centennial Tournament four times during his career. The Shoremen won the 2004 Centennial Conference Championship & reached the NCAA Semifinals.

Davenport was appointed Washington's sixth women's rowing head coach in the summer of 1990 and held that position until his retirement in July 2016. The Shorewomen captured six Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships under Davenport, in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. He was named the conference's Coach of the Year in 2013 after securing the league's first-ever automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships. It marked the first time in team history that the Shorewomen had earned a full team berth to the NCAA Championships. Washington finished sixth at the Championships, headlined by a fifth-place finish in the first varsity eight. The Boston, Massachusetts native was subsequently named the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Coach of the Year for Division III for the first time. The Shorewomen went on to win their second, third, and, fourth consecutive MARC Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016, advance to the NCAA Division III Championships each year. Davenport was named MARC Coach of the Year for the second time in 2015 and for the third time in 2016. After several years of having the top-ranked team and/or boat in the Mid-Atlantic region, Davenport guided the Shorewomen's varsity eight to the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships in 2008. He was also named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year that same season. The Shorewomen returned to the NCAA Division III Championships the following year as the first varsity eight was again selected as an at-large boat. A collegiate coach for three decades, Davenport oversaw Washington's men's and women's rowing teams at the completion of his coaching career and also served as Washington's compliance coordinator and as an adjunct professor.
