#14 Shoremen Play to Scoreless Tie Versus Sea Gulls

Anthony Pinto Stops Three Shots for Shutout

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host #14 Washington College and visiting Salisbury played to a scoreless tie on Thursday night on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in a non-conference men's soccer contest.  It was the season opener for both teams.

Washington College 0 Salisbury 0
How It Happened
- Washington's Ben Strine (Hockessin, Del., Salesianum School) had the best chance in the first half to score, but his header off of a free kick hit the post exactly 22 minutes into the game.
- The Shoremen had two chances in 11 seconds in the 39th minute to try to take the lead, but came up empty.  Harrison Malone (Media, Pa., Episcopal Academy) had the first shot, but it was saved by Sea Gulls' goalie Ryan Socks and Sebastien Linares (Reisterstown, Md., Loyola Blakefield) follow up was blocked.
- Salisbury's Sean Barwick had the last shot of the first half in the 41st minute, but it was blocked.
- Strine had the hosts' best chance to dent the scoreboard in the second half in the 52nd minute, but his shot off the free kick was tipped out of bounds by Socks.
- The Sea Gulls had a chance with just under three minutes left on a counter, but Anthony Pinto (Matawan, N.J., Christian Brothers Academy) was able to beat Ethan Dolezal to the ball at the top of the box to clear it out of bounds.
- Brady Young had the last shot of the game with 1:24 left off of a corner kick, but his shot sailed high.
- Starting this season, there is no overtime in the regular season for soccer so the game was declared a tie after 90 minutes.
