Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten After Blanking Rutgers-Camden, 2-0

Freshmen Whiteside & Gaydon Produce Goals; Flanagan Garners Two Assists

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – A pair of freshmen, Bridget Whiteside (Elmhurst, Ill., Trinity) and Maddy Gaydon (Gettysburg, Pa., Gettysburg Area), produced goals as the host Washington College women's soccer team blanked Rutgers-Camden by a score of 2-0, on Saturday evening at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

The Shorewomen, who outshot the Scarlet Raptors by an 18-5 margin, remain unbeaten at 3-0-1 while the visitors fell to 0-2-1.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen scored the only goal they would need with just over 13 minutes left in the first half. Junior midfielder Audrey Flanagan (Huntingtown, Md., Huntingtown) initiated the play as she delivered a perfect 20-yard pass deep into the right side of the box for senior forward Audrey Flanagan (Huntingtown, Md., Huntingtown). O'Connell caught up to pass near the end line and then crossed the ball in front to a charging Whiteside, who was wide open on the far post. Whiteside collected the pass and beat starting keeper Michaela Graham with a high shot to left corner of the net.
- Washington College scored an insurance marker in the 64' as Gaydon tallied after following up a rebound for her second career marker. Flanagan again factored into the scoring as she fired a ten-yard shot from the right side of the box that reserve keeper Kayla McKeever initially stopped. The ball, however, squirted out of her hands and Gaydon was all alone at the doorstep and deposited the loose ball into the back of the net.

Notes
-The Shorewomen took seven corners while the Scarlet Raptors attempted five of their own.
- Freshman Hailey Sharpe (Holmdel, N.J., Holmdel) (2 saves) earned her first win as she played 61 minutes in her first career start.
- Senior Gillian Slavick (Toms River, N.J., Toms River North) (2 saves) played the final 29 minutes.
- Washington College is 4-0-1 in the all-time series with Rutgers-Camden and have yet to allow a goal against them.
