Shorewomen and Fords Play to Third Straight Scoreless Draw

Sharpe Turns Away Four Shots for WC

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Visiting Washington College and host Haverford played to a scoreless draw for the third straight time on Wednesday afternoon at Walton Field in Centennial Conference women's soccer action.  Both teams are now 3-1-3 overall and 0-0-2 in the conference.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen nearly took the lead in the seventh minute on a shot by Rachel Chatfield (Lovettsville, Va., Woodgrove) following a corner kick, but a Ford defender was able to keep the ball out of the goal.
- Haverford's best chance came in the 36th minute on a chance by Sarah Klink off of a corner, but it rang off the right post to keep the game scoreless.
- The last shot of the half came with 5:52 left in the first half by the Fords' Celia Page, but it went wide left and the game went to halftime with no score.
- Klink had the first shot on target in the second half in the 52nd minute, but Hailey Sharpe (Holmdel, N.J., Holmdel) made the save for Washington.
- Amity Harrington (Island Heights, N.J., Point Pleasant Beach) almost got the Shorewomen on the board with 16:11 left in the second half, but Haverford goalie Claire Cywes was able to tip the ball off the crossbar and over the goal to keep the contest scoreless.
- Sadie Kim had the last shot of the game with 4:17 to go and it went wide to the right.
- Haverford nearly generated one final shot in the last minute off of a failed clear by the Shorewomen, but the Washington defense got to the ball to prevent a shot by the Fords.

- Goalkeepers: Sharpe (4 saves, 0 goals allowed, 90:00) 
- Totaled five shots and six corner kicks for the match. 

For Haverford (3-1-3, 0-0-2 CC)
- Scorers: None
- Goalkeeper: Cywes (2 saves, 0 goals allowed, 90:00)
- Took nine shots and five corner kicks in the contest.
- Had one team save.

Notes
- The two teams played to a scoreless tie in 2019 at Haverford and neither side scored last season in Chestertown.
