CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The host Washington College field hockey dropped a heartbreaking, 5-4, decision against undefeated Shenandoah in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Maroon & Black fell to 3-4 while the Hornets improve to 8-0.

Tatum Schatt (Pasadena, Md., Chesapeake) both scored a pair of goals to lead the Shorewomen, who took a 4-3 lead in the fourth quarter.
How it Happened
-Washington College got on the board first just 4:44 into the contest as Esposito made a run into the right side of the circle and put a shot on cage from seven yards out. Hornets' sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Swan tried to kick the attempt away but the ball trickled through her legs and went into the back of the net.
- The visitors responded just fifty-seven seconds later on a penalty corner. Junior midfielder Farren Winter put a hard shot on goal from the top left of the circle and an initial save by junior goalie
Ava Rivera (Simsbury, Conn., Ethel Walker School) bounced right in front to freshman forward Claudia Lenahan, who tapped in the equalizer.
- Esposito struck again with 8:48 remaining in the half to provide the hosts with a 2-1 advantage. Freshman midfielder
Jam Hutt-Robles (Princess Anne, Md., Washington) fired a pass from 30-yards out that deflected to Esposito in front of the cage. Esposito collected the ball and beat Swann, who had fallen to the ground.
- The Hornets evened the contest with just 1:34 remaining before the break as junior forward Cassidy Morrison tipped in a perfect pass by sophomore forward Mairead Mckibbin along the back post.
- The Shorewomen again moved ahead, 3-2, after a penalty stroke goal to the left corner by Schatt with 6:07 left in the third. Esposito drew the whistle after making a fast-break run down the right side.
- Shenandoah answered right back forty-two seconds later when graduate student Kelsey Jones sent a blast past Rivera from the top of the circle following a penalty corner by freshman midfielder Madison Short.
- The hosts were awarded another penalty stroke and made it 4-3 with 13:00 minutes left. Schatt beat Swann with a shot to the same spot as her first tally. Senior midfielder
Anna Harrington (Milton, Del., Cape Henlopen)drew the whistle to set up the stroke.
- Jones converted again following a penalty corner with 5:17 left in regulation to knot the score at 4-4. Jones had her initial attempt blocked at the top of the circle and she was able to follow up her shot and connect from ten yards out.
