CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College volleyball team won the final two sets and served up 20 aces came away with a 3-2 (24-26, 21-25, 25-27, 25-22, 15-11) win over visiting Catholic on Wednesday night at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium. The Shorewomen are now 3-1 overall on the season and winners of three in a row, while the Cardinals are 1-4.

How It Happened
- Washington led 24-21 in the opening set before Catholic rallied to win the final five points to capture the first. Tanya Sichling put the Cardinals ahead 25-24 on a kill and an attack error by the Shorewomen ended the set.
- Tied at 17-17 in the second set, the Shorewomen won eight of the final 12 points to win by four.
Angelina Schaber ended the second with a kill.
- The Cardinals would win the last three points of the third set to take a 2-1 lead. Tied at 25-25, Halie Murphy put Catholic ahead on a kill and Gaby Hernandez-Ferraiuoli registered a service ace to end the third.
- Down 18-17 in the fourth set, WC ended the set on an 8-4 run to win by three. Schaber tallied a kill to send the match to the fifth set.
- In the fifth set,
Courtney Maxwell served three straight aces to put Washington ahead 5-2 and the hosts never trailed in the fifth set. Schaber would notch her third set-clinching kill on the night to win the set and match.

For Catholic (1-4)
- Murphy (match-high 15 kills), Olivia Blondin (12 kills), Sydney Sheppard (33 assists), Hernandez-Ferraiouli (team-bests of 15 digs and three aces), Sichling (13 digs), Erin Faughnan and Brittany Connatser (three blocks)
- The Cardinals hit .183 in the contest, had nine blocks and 10 aces.
Notes
- McKechnie was the first WC player to have eight aces in a single match since Abby Hilty '21 had eight on September 25, 2019 at Bryn Mawr.
- It was the team's first match of 20 or more aces since the 2019 win at Bryn Mawr.
