Shorewomen Comeback to Nip Garnet, 63-60

Prestianne Scores Game-Topping 21 Points; Boggs Tallies First Career Double-Double

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College rallied from an 18-point third quarter deficit to pull out a 63-60 win over visiting Swarthmore on Thursday night at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in Centennial Conference women's basketball action.  The Shorewomen are now 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the Centennial, while the Garnet fall to 4-9 and 2-6 respectively.

How It Happened
- Tied at 5-5, Swarthmore scored eight of the next 11 points to take a 13-8 lead with 2:25 left on a Katelyn Becker jumper.  The Garnet lead 13-10 after one.
- In the second quarter, Becker gave Swarthmore its biggest lead of the game at 18 points, 32-14, with 4:11 remaining in the second quarter on a layup.  The visitors would take a 36-21 lead into halftime.
- Down 47-29 with 4:55 left in the third quarter, Washington scored the final 13 points to cut the lead to 47-42 heading into the fourth quarter.  Following a travel by Swarthmore with 2.9 seconds left, Andrea Prestianne hit a jumper to beat the buzzer to cap the 13-0 quarter ending run.
- Prestianne would cap the 18-0 run on a conventional three-point play 61 seconds into the fourth quarter to tie it at 47-47.
- Tied at 51-51, Swarthmore scored seven straight points to take a 58-51 lead with 3:10 to go on a Anna Hansson free throw.
- The Shorewomen would answer with nine unanswered to take their first lead since early in the game.  Prestianne hit a triple to level the score at 58-58 with 1:21 left and Kaitlyn Boggs put the hosts ahead 60-58 with 23 ticks left on a layup.
- After Hansson made one of two from the line to trim the lead to 60-59, Amari Faust would net a jumper with nine seconds left to make it 62-59.
- Alyssa Hayashi converted one of two from the stripe for the Garnet to cut the deficit to 62-60 before Swarthmore fouled Joy Sanders.  Sanders would make one from the line to give the hosts a 63-60 edge.
- Swarthmore's final hope was dashed when Boggs knocked away the long pass from Kim Kockenmeister and the clock expired.

For The Shorewomen (10-4, 6-3 CC)
- Boggs (12 points and game-high 11 rebounds for first career double-double; two blocks), Prestianne (game-best 21 points), Faust (five assists), Kiersten Rose (career-best three steals)
- Washington shot 34% from the field (25-for-74), 14% from three-point range (2-for-14) and 61% from the foul line (11-for-18).
- Washington held a 54-36 cushion in rebounds and had 17 turnovers in the contest.
- The Shorewomen held a 15-13 advantage in bench points, 21-4 edge in second-chance points and outscored the guests in points in the paint 32-20. 

For Swarthmore (4-9, 2-6 CC)
- Hayashi (14 points and six rebounds), Becker (12 points and game-best six assists), Kockenmeister (13 points and contest-high five steals), Hansson (two blocks)
- Swarthmore shot 40% from the field (21-for-53), 30% from behind the arc (6-for-20) and 52% from foul line (12-for-23). 
- Swarthmore outscored the hosts in transition points (4-2) and points off turnovers (20-18).
- The Garnet had 20 turnovers.

Notes
- Boggs notched her first career double-double in the win.  She set a career-high in rebounds and tied her personal-best in points.  She tallied 12 points in the season-opening win at Notre Dame (Md.) on November 8.
