CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Haverford used a 15-0 first half run to take the lead for the rest of the game and held off a late charge from host Washington College to net an 80-73 win on Thursday evening on Finnegan Court at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium in Centennial Conference men's basketball action. The Fords improve to 6-12 overall and 4-7 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen fall to 2-15 and 1-10 respectively.

How It Happened                                           Â
- Washington raced out to a 13-4 lead 6:12 into the first half on a second chance layup by
Kedrick Frink.

Nick Kerkorian would give Haverford the lead for the rest of the game on a three-pointer with 9:26 remaining in the first, 18-17, as part of the run of 15 unanswered points.Â
- Kerkorian capped the run with another three that made it 25-17 with 6:17 to go in the stanza.
- The Fords, who led by as many as 12 in the first half on two occasions, took a 37-28 lead into halftime.
- The Shoremen would open the second half on an 11-3 spurt to cut the Fords' advantage to just one, 40-39, with 16:22 left in the game on a triple by Frink.
- Haverford answered with seven straight points to push its lead to 47-39 with 14:47 to go on a
Nate Torres lay-in.
- Leading 63-58 with 4:40 to go in the contest, Haverford scored eight of the next nine points to push its lead back to 12 at 71-59 with 3:08 to go on a Trotter three.
- The hosts would score 14 of the next 21 points to reduce the guests' lead to five, 78-73, with 24 seconds left on a
Ryan Lang three.
- Trotter was fouled five seconds later and made both from the foul line to cap the scoring.
For The Shoremen (2-15, 1-10 CC)
- Frink (game-best 29 points, seven rebounds to tie for contest-high and three assists to tie for team-best),
Davis Bland (11 points and two steals), Lang (10 points),
Sam Corrao (three assists)
- The Shoremen shot 46% (25-for-55) from the floor, 50% (13-for-26) from three-point range and 77% (10-for-13) from the foul line. The 50% from beyond the arc was a season-best for WC.Â
- Washington committed 11 turnovers and grabbed 32 rebounds.
For Haverford (6-12, 4-7 CC)
- Kerkorian (18 points to tie for team-best, game-high four assists and two steals),
Brandon Banadda (18 points),
Harry Johnson (13 points and seven rebounds to tie for tops in game)
- The Fords shot 46% (27-for-59) from the floor, 54% (13-for-24) from three-point range and 72% (13-for-18) from the free throw stripe.  Â
- Haverford outscored WC in bench points (48-12), points in the paint (26-22) and fast-break points (2-0).
- The Fords had six turnovers in the contest, while pulling down 32 boards.
Notes
- Frink was named the Goose Nation TV Shoremen Player of the Game. Â His 29 points is one off his career-high of 30 which he set on December 6, 2022, versus Bryn Athyn.Â
- Each team grabbed 35 rebounds and scored 12 second chance points and six points off turnovers in the contest.
- The teams combined to make 52 field goals in the contest, 50% of the makes coming from three-point range (26).
