CHESTERTOWN, M.d. – The Washington College Shorewomen came into tonight's contest looking to stop a two-game skid in Centennial Conference play. Playing host to second-place Haverford, the Shorewomen owned the paint and then used the free-throw line to run out as 53-45 winners inside the Penny J. Fall Gymnasium. Washington improves to 13-6 on the season with an 8-6 mark in conference play. The Fords fall to 13-6 and 10-4 in conference play.Â

How It Happened
- Washington established the paint-game early, scoring eight from inside during the first period.
Rachel Thiem (Junior/Sykesville, Md.) and Lizzie Huddock (Senior/Salem, N.J.) combined for a pair of lay-ins to give Washington a 5-point lead late in the first. A Kayla Robinson jumper for the Fords cut the WC lead to 12-9 at the end first period.Â
-The second frame started slow for the Shorewomen. Despite failing to score in the first 4:34 of the second period, the Shorewomen defense kept the game tied by holding Haverford to just three points during that time. That's when the Shorewomen found some success in the paint and at the free-throw line. A 13-3 run fuled by
Andrea Prestianne (Senior/Kennett Square, Pa.) and
Joy Sanders (Senior/Baltimore, Md.) free-throws gave the Shorewomen a 25-15 halftime lead.Â
- Haverford came out of the break strong. An 20-8 run led by Ally Landau gave Haverford their first lead of the second half with 1:36 remaining in the third. It was a third quarter takeover from Prestianne from there. A 7-0 run by the senior in the final minute gave Washington a 40-35 lead heading into the final frame.Â
- After a slow start to the period from both teams, a Kayla Robinson for th Fords jumper cut the Shorewomen lead to two with 6:15 remaining. Prestianne then scored three more before she combined with
Joy Sanders to beat the press and set up
Kaitlyn Boggs (Freshman/Linwood, N.J.) for a lay-in to extend the lead to seven. From that point, Prestianne finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul-line to push the Shorewomen to a 53-45 win.Â
For The Shorewomen (12-7, 8-6 CC)
- Andre Prestianne paced the Shorewomen with 22 points, five boards, three steals and three assists. The senior finished 13-for-14 from the foul-line. Â
Joy Sanders and Lizzie Huddock both added 11 points.  Â
- WC shot 34% from the floor (16-for-47), 2-for-11 from three and 82.6% (19-for-23) from the foul line in the game.
- WC held a 24-12 edge in the paint and forced eight steals. The Shorewomen also won the transition game, scoring six on the fast break and holding Haverford to 0. Â
For Haverford (13-6, 10-4 CC)Â
- Ally Landau led the Fords with 20 points on 8-of-22 shooting with a game-high three triples. Kayla Robinson dominated the glass, racking up 19 rebounds to go along with nine points. Gia Flamini added ten to finish as the second leading scorer for the Fords.Â
- The Fords shot 28.3% from the floor (17-for-60), 20.8% from three (5-for-24) and 60% from the foul line (6-for-10).Â
