SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore got a game-best 19 points from
Alyssa Hayashi and outscored visiting Washington College, 15-6, in the fourth quarter to come away with a 62-47 win at Tarble Pavilion in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game on Wednesday evening. The Garnet improves to 8-11 overall and 6-8 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen are now 12-8 and 8-7 respectively.

How It Happened
- Swarthmore jumped out to a 7-2 lead 3:54 into the first quarter on a
Dana Bandurick layup.
- Washington scored the next six points to grab an 8-7 lead with 4:17 to go in the first on a
Joy Sanders steal and transition layup. The two teams were tied 13-13 after one.
- In the second quarter, the Garnet took a pair of seven-point leads, the largest in the first half, with the last coming on a
Kim Kockenmeister layup with 1:55 to go, 28-21. The Shorewomen would score the final four points with
Bryson Ostrum netting a lay-in with seven seconds left and the hosts' lead was 28-25 at halftime.
- Hayashi gave the hosts an 11-point lead, 44-33, with 4:10 to go in the third on a bunny. However the visitors would score eight of the final 11 points to trim the Swarthmore lead to 47-41 after three with
Karry Kelliher scoring a second chance layup with 12 ticks left to cap the third quarter scoring.
- Leading by six, 51-45, with 3:37 to go in the fourth, Swarthmore netted six straight points to put the contest away, all from the foul line to grab a 57-45 lead with 56 seconds left on two Bandurick free throws. Bandurick made the last field goal of the contest with 6:36 left in the stanza.Â
For the Shorewomen (12-8, 8-7 CC)

Kaitlyn Boggs (four blocks and three assists to set career-bests in both)
- Washington shot 31% from the floor (17-for-55), 8% from three-point range (1-for-12) and 100% from the foul line (12-for-12).
- The Shorewomen outscored the Garnet in bench points, 19-2.
- WC turned it over 18 times in the game and had six second-chance points.
For Swarthmore (8-11, 6-8 CC)
- Hayashi (game-best 19 points and four steals), Bandurick (14 points and nine rebounds), Kockenmeister (13 points)
-The Garnet shot 39% from the field (19-for-49), 40% from three-point land (6-for-15) and 82% from the free throw stripe (18-for-22).
- Held a 23-14 advantage in points off of turnovers, 14-8 in fast-break points and 26-18 in points in the paint.
- The hosts coughed it up 17 times in the contest, while scoring six second-chance points.
Notes
- Both teams recorded 35 rebounds in the game.
- Tonight was the first time Washington shot 100% from the foul line since going 11-for-11 on January 11, 2003 versus Goucher.
