BALTIMORE, Md. – Washington College volleyball traveled to Johns Hopkins on Wednesday night to take on the ninth ranked Blue Jays in a Centennial Conference match. Hopkins started fast in the match, taking the opening set 25-14. Hopkins kept the same pace in set two before the Shorewomen rallied in set three but came up short as Hopkins took the match in straight sets.Â

How it Happened:

-After an early 2-2 tie in the opening set, Hopkins took eight of the next nine points, taking a commanding lead. Hopkins and the Shorewomen traded points from there until the Jays took the set 25-14.Â

-The Shorewomen played better at the start of the second set until another Hopkins run gave control to the Jays. Hopkins led 6-5 until an 8-1 run put them up 14-6. The Jays managed the set out similar to the first, taking it 25-13Â Â

-Set three saw even play as the teams split the opening 28 points for a 14-14 tie. Washington took a two-point lead after a pair of
Jordan Fairchild aces. Hopkins then rallied to take the lead at 20-19. Washington tied it back up with a
Sylvia Johnson kill. The Jays then took control with a four-point run. The Shorewomen defended two match points before Hopkins put the match away with a 25-22 set three win.Â
