How It Happened
- Washington nearly took the lead in the fifth minute as Emily Morris' shot from 25 yards out had to be tipped over the crossbar by Swarthmore goalie Sofie Aird.
- Swarthmore would get onto the board with 5:45 left in the opening half as Marea Lee's pass was redirected by Lauren Lior and it found the foot of Veronica Gibbons whose shot from about 25 yards out found the back of the net to give the Garnet a 1-0 lead which it would take into halftime.
- In the second half, Emily Morris had a shot on goal in the 53rd minute and Gina Phillips in the 74th minute, but Aird turned both away.
- Gibbons got her second of the night and gave Swarthmore its insurance goal with 3:35 to go in the game as she headed in a corner kick pass from Keren Maze to give the Garnet a two-goal cushion.
- The Shorewomen's last chance to break up the shutout with less than 10 seconds left on an Audrey Flanagan shot, but it was saved by Aird and the clock ran out.
