CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College men's soccer played host to the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats Saturday night in a Centennial Conference matchup. The number one seed in next week's Centennial Conference Tournament was on the line with Washington needing a win to jump the Dips into the top spot. A well-worked corner kick resulted in a
Ben Strine goal just before half time. Just after half, Strine made it 2-0. The Dips pulled one back through a
Chris Comber own goal but they were unable to snatch a tying goal as Washington locked up the top seed in the Centennial playoffs with a 2-1 win on senior night.

How It Happened
- There was not much attacking threat for most of the opening half from either side. The chance of the match came from a long-range
Harrison Malone shot that was push aside for a corner. From the resulting corner, Washington went up 1-0 as
Ben Strine headed home after
Sebastien Linares flicked on the corner kick from Domonic Miller.Â
Â
-Just over 11 minutes into the second half, Strine made it two with an effort that crept in below Dips keeper Nolan Booth. F&M only had one attempt on goal but got back into the match after
Chris Comber turned a dangerous ball into his own net.Â
Â
-Into the final fifteen minutes, the Dips had not created a clear-cut opportunity after the own goal but were pushing for the equalizer. The Shoremen continued to have an answer for each F&M corner and free kick as they held on to the 2-1 win.Â
