CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College men's soccer played host to the Lions of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in a non-conference matchup on Kibler Field. The Shoremen were able to strike just before halftime when
Alex Coster latched onto a longball from
Chris Comber and chipped the ball over the TCNJ keeper and into the net. Just over three minutes into the second half,
Tucker Sprano fired home his first goal of the season to give the Shoremen a commanding two-goal lead. A late goal by TCNJ made things interesting in the final moments, but the Shoremen held on for a 2-1 win.Â

How It Happened
- Washington's first look at goal came 13
th minute of the match when
Assou Kowo fired just beyond the post from the left side of the box. Neither team created much until
Chris Comber sent a long ball up to
Alex Coster, with Gebhart coming out from goal, the senior chipped the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net. That was enough to give the Shoremen a 1-0 halftime lead.Â

-The Shoremen opened up the second half on the front foot and it paid off as
Tucker Sprano fired home his first goal of the season in the 48
th minute.Â

-The Lions pulled a goal back in the 87
th minute through David Anderson. After the goal, TCNJ had a free kick in a dangerous position but the cross was claimed by keeper
Cole White.Â
