GAMBIER, Ohio – The Washington college men's soccer team took on the Kenyon College Owls in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Neither team could create a clear chance until
Harrison Malone found the net for Washington at the 75
th minute. Hosts Kenyon tied the match back up just five minutes later. After a scoreless extra-time, the Shoremen went a perfect 5-for-5 in the penalty shootout. Senior keeper
Anthony Pinto saved the Owls third kick, allowing
Chris Comber to score the final attempt and send Washington to the Sweet 16.Â

How It Happened
- The Shoremen opened the scoring when the ball fell kindly to
Harrison Malone inside the Kenyon penalty area, the senior controlled and fired home to give Washington the lead. Just under five minutes later, Kenyon tied the match from a corner kick. The ball was played dangerously in front of Pinto, allowing Max Thesing to get a touch and send it into the net.Â

-Neither side created much in the extra time period. Kenyon had the best opportunity at the death when Joey Martens missed a chance to win the game with an effort sent wide.Â

-In the shootout, Washington went a perfect 5-fot-5 as
Ben Strine,
Katim Njie,
Dominic Miller and
Tshazi Kamau scored the first four.
Anthony Pinto saved Kenyon's third effort from the spot, allowing
Chris Comber the opportunity to send Washington to the Sweet 16. The senior stepped up and fired home to win the match.Â
