FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Washington college men's soccer team took on #2 Mary Washington in the final 16 of the NCAA Tournament. In the 69
th minute of the match,
Tshazi Kamau played the ball into
Ben Strine, the senior guided the ball to send Kamau through on goal and fire past the hosts keeper to send Washington out in front. The Shoremen withstood waves of Mary Washington attacked in the final twenty minutes to hang on to a 1-0 win and advance to the final eight of the NCAA Tournament.Â

How It Happened
- The first big chance of the match came to Washington just under 15 minutes in when
Harrison Malone lined up an effort from distance. The senior's strike beat the keeper but hit the crossbar. Minutes later, Mary Washington had their first effort from Nelsar Castillo that was saved by Shoremen keeper
Anthony Pinto.Â

-Washington took the lead with just over twenty minutes to play when a one-two by Kamau and Strine sent Kamau through on goal. The freshman gathered the ball and calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

-Washington's defense and keeper Pinto held out for the shutout as Pinto registered 11 saves in the contest.Â
