#14 Swarthmore Pulls Away From Washington, 67-48

Frink Scores Squad-High 20 Points

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host #14 Swarthmore finished the game on a 29-13 run to turn a 38-35 lead into a 67-48 win over visiting Washington College at Tarble Pavilion in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game on Tuesday night.  The Garnet improves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen fall to 2-4 and 0-2 respectively.

How It Happened
- With the scored tied at 11-11, the Garnet scored the next seven points to take an 18-11 lead with 11:35 to go in the opening half on a Vinny DeAngelo three-pointer.
- The Shoremen would answer with 12 of the next 19 points to cut the lead to 25-23 with 4:59 to go on a Paul Rodolf jumper.
- Swarthmore would score the final four points of the stanza to take a 29-23 lead into halftime.
- Rodolf would drain back-to-back jumpers to cut the Swarthmore lead to 38-35 with 9:24 to go in the game.
- DeAngelo would start the game-closing run on a jumper to make it 40-35 with 8:55 to go and it would ignite seven straight points from the hosts that was capped by two free throws by Michael Caprise with 7:33 remaining that gave the Garnet a 45-35 lead.
- The only time WC got the game back into single digits was nine seconds later on a Rodolf free throw to trim it to 45-36 before Caleb Aurelien layup with 6:29 remaining gave the Garnet a double-digit lead the rest of the contest at 47-36. 

For The Shoremen (2-4, 0-2 CC)
- Frink (20 points, five rebounds, two steals), Rodolf and Zack Skrocki (10 points), Precieux Tshibangu and Davis Bland (two steals)
- Washington shot 33% (16-for-48) from the floor, 13% from three-point range (2-for-15) and 74% from the foul stripe (14-for-19).
- The Shoremen had 13 turnovers in the game.

For #14 Swarthmore (5-1, 2-0 CC)
- Caprise (game-topping 23 points, eight rebounds and contest-high three steals), DeAngelo (14 points), Devin Burger, Aidan Godfrey and Aurelien (eight boards), Eddie Paquette (game-best five assists)
- The Garnet shot 40% (24-for-60) from the field, 27% (7-for-26) from beyond the arc and 75% (12-for-16) from the free throw line.
- Swarthmore outrebounded Washington 48-26 and outscored the guests in second-chance points (13-0), points in the paint (28-24), bench points (14-2) and fast-break points (4-0).
- The Garnet had 15 turnovers.

Notes
- Both teams had eight points off turnovers in game.
- Swarthmore assistant coach Christian Matthews is a 2012 Washington College graduate.
