SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore got a game-best 17 points from
Norah Wingfield and scored the game's final 13 points to turn a three-point fourth quarter lead into a 55-39 win at Tarble Pavilion in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game on Tuesday evening. The Garnet improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen are now 2-2 and 0-1 respectively.

How It Happened
- Trailing 8-4 with 5:50 left in the first quarter following two free throws by the Garnet's Wingfield, the Shorewomen scored the final seven points to take an 11-8 lead after one as
Abby Meredith broke the 8-8 tie with 1:41 to go on a three-pointer.
- Meredith capped the 10-0 run for Washington with 8:28 to go in the second quarter on another triple give the visitors a 14-8 advantage.
- Swarthmore would outscore Washington 15-8 the rest of the second to take a 23-22 lead into halftime. Wingfield canned a three-pointer with 1:47 left to give the hosts a one-point edge.
- In the third quarter, Swarthmore opened the stanza with 12 of the first 14 points to take a 35-24 lead with 3:01 to go on a
Carly Murphy three-pointer.
- Washington would close out the quarter on a 11-3 run to cut the lead to 38-35 after three on two
Serena Pluta free throws with 13 ticks to go.Â
- Pluta converted a layup with seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter to cut the Swarthmore lead to 42-39 before the hosts scored the game's last 13 points to pull away. Wingfield began the game-clinching run with a layup with 5:46 to go to make it 44-39 and
Anna Hansson netted a lay-in with 30 ticks left to close out the run.
For the Shorewomen (2-2, 0-1 CC)

- Washington shot 20% from the floor (9-for-46), 25% from three-point range (4-for-16) and 100% from the foul line (17-for-17).
- The Shorewomen outscored the Garnet in second chance points, 10-9.
- WC turned it over 23 times in the game.
For Swarthmore (3-2, 2-0 CC)
- Wingfield (17 points and two blocks), Hansson (16 points, nine rebounds and three steals),

Neve Yair (three assists), Murphy (two blocks)
- The Garnet shot 32% from the field (16-for-50), 33% from three-point land (5-for-15) and 75% from the free throw stripe (18-for-24).
- Held a 19-8 advantage in points off of turnovers, 13-6 in bench points, 11-4 in fast-break points and 16-8 in points in the paint.
- The hosts coughed it up 20 times in the contest, while outrebounding the visitors 40-33.
Notes
- With their 17-for-17 performance from the foul stripe, the Shorewomen have gone 29-for-29 from the free throw line in their last two games at Swarthmore, going 12-for-12 in their last trip before tonight on February 1, 2023. Prior to the last two meetings at Swarthmore, the last time Washington shot 100% from the foul line since going 11-for-11 on January 11, 2003 versus Goucher.
