CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Host Washington College withstood a late 8-0 run by visiting Franklin & Marshall to come away with a 43-42 win on Thursday night in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at Penny J. Fall Gymnasium. The Shorewomen improve to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial, while the Diplomats fall to 2-3 and 0-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen outscored the Diplomats 12-9 in the opening quarter with Kaitlyn Boggs netting a free throw with three-tenths of a second to go to round out the scoring.
- Washington opened the second quarter with six of the first eight points to take an 18-11 lead on two free throws by Serena Pluta with 5:36 to go before Franklin & Marshall answered with a 10-2 run to take a 21-20 lead with 1:23 to go on a jumper by Ally Trebelev. Karry Kelliher would answer with a jumper with 29 ticks to go in the second to give the Shorewomen a 22-21 advantage at halftime. The Kelliher bucket put the hosts ahead for the rest of the night.
- Both teams scored 12 points in the third quarter as Washington took a 34-33 lead into the fourth.
- In the fourth, Washington scored nine of the first 10 points to lead 43-34 with 3:55 on a three-pointer by Abby Meredith and the Meredith basket proved to be the winning shot.
- F&M would score the next eight points to cut the lead to 43-42 with 1:26 left on a Gia Sioutis jumper.
- After a WC missed two shots, F&M had a chance to take the lead, but committed a turnover with 40 seconds left.
- The Shorewomen would draw a foul and then rebounded two misses to run the clock out and come away with the win.
For The Shorewomen (3-2, 1-1 CC)
- Kelliher (game-high 18 points and team-bests of five steals and two blocks), Emma Robinson (career-high and game-best 11 rebounds), Kiersten Rose (10 boards)
- WC shot 24% from the floor (15-for-63), 30% from three-point range (3-for-10) and 83% (10-for-12) from the foul line in the game.
- The Shorewomen held a 52-28 advantage in rebounds, while turning it over 24 times.
- WC outscored Franklin & Marshall in points off turnovers (18-14), bench points (5-2) and second chance points (17-2).
For Franklin & Marshall (2-3, 0-3 CC)
- Lizzie Neville (12 points and contest-high six steals), Trebelev (eight rebounds), Jaclyn Feit (four blocks to lead all players)
- The Diplomats shot 35% from the floor (16-for-46), 7% from three-point land (1-for-14) and 82% from the foul stripe (9-for-11).
- Franklin & Marshall had 21 turnovers in the game.
- The Diplomats outscored the Shorewomen in points in the paint (24-16).

- Meredith was named the Goose Nation TV Shorewoman Player of the Game. Meredith played for F&M last season.
