ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Washington College men's basketball opened up the season on the road against the Seahawks of St. Mary's (Md.) in the first game under new head coach
Corey Begly. The Shoremen battled from 12 down at the half to send the game into overtime after a great defensive effort in the second half. Washington owned the first four minutes of the extra period to open up the season with the win. Â

How It Happened
- The Seahawks started the game strong, opening a 20-10 lead eight minutes into the first half. The Shoremen then went on a 14-4 run to tie the game at 24 before taking a 28-27 lead. The final six minutes would belong to the hosts as the Seahawks finished the half on a 17-6 to take a 45-33 halftime lead.Â
-St. Mary's held a 52-41 lead with 16 minutes remaining when
Kedrick Frink caught fire. Frink scored Washington's next ten points to cut the deficit to 54-51. Frink's scoring coupled with a strong defensive effort put the Shoremen ahead by one with just over seven minutes remaining.Â
-Both teams traded baskets until the final minute. With the game tied at 65, Frink had a shot to win the game but just missed from inside the arc, sending the game into overtime. The overtime frame was dominated by the Shoremen. A Marcus Scott and-one finish put Washington up eight with just over a minute remaining. The hosts could do nothing to get back into the game as the Shoremen took the win.Â

Kedrick Frink led the Shoremen with 21 points. Frink added eight rebounds and four assists.
Paul Rodolf added 20 points and Marcus Scott scored 16.Â
- WC shot 50% from the floor (29-for-58), 38.5% from three-point range (5-for-13) and 65% (13-for-20) from the foul line in the game.
For St. Mary's (0-1)Â
- Micha Henry lead the Seahawks in scoring, finishing with 21 points.  Â
- The Seahawks shot 43.3% from the floor (29-for-67), 36.8% from three-point land (5-for-12) and 41.7% from the foul stripe (5-for-12).Â
