Shoremen Topped in Exhibition by Division I Midshipmen

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Washington College men's basketball team traveled to Division I Navy to play an exhibition against the Midshipmen on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall and fell 91-33. The game did count in the standings for the Midshipmen and they improved to 3-6 on the season.

Navy scored the first 11 points and never trailed, capping the run on a traditional three-point play by Donovan Draper with 17:18 to go in the first half.  Ethan Schwantes would end the run with a basket to get Washington on the board and trimmed the lead to 11-2.  The Midshipmen would take their first 20-point lead with 8:19 left in the first half on a Mitch Fischer free throw to lead 33-13 as Navy would take a 46-20 lead into halftime.  The Midshipmen outscored the Shoremen 45-13 in the second half to provide the final margin.  Kedrick Frink had seven points and six rebounds for WC, while Zack Skrocki also scored seven points.  Davis Bland grabbed five rebounds for Washington.  For Navy, Kam Summers and Lysander Rehnstrom scored a game-best 13 points each.

The two teams, who first met in the 1914-15 season, have played 14 times in games that count for both teams in the all-time series, the most recent being in 2006-07.

The Shoremen (3-6) are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Salisbury with tip scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
