Diplomats Use Fourth Quarter Rally to Edge Shorewomen, 52-50

Kelliher and Prestianne Tally 13 Points Each for Washington; Sanders Nets Game-Best 11 Boards

LANCASTER, Pa. – Host Franklin & Marshall used a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to take its first lead of the game and one it would not relinquish in nipping visiting Washington College, 52-50, on Thursday night in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at the Mayser Center.  The Diplomats, who outscored the guests 21-14 in the fourth, improve to 9-13 overall and 6-11 in the Centennial, while the Shorewomen fall to 12-11 and 8-10 respectively.

How It Happened
- Washington scored 11 of the game's opening 13 points to lead 11-2 with 2:19 to go in the first quarter on two free throws by Andrea Prestianne.  The Shorewomen led 13-7 after one.
- The Shorewomen would lead by as many as 11 on three occasions in the second quarter, the last time coming with 3:02 left, 26-15, on a Joy Sanders jumper.  F&M would score the final five points of the second quarter to cut the lead to 26-20 at halftime with Lauren Rusas draining two free throws with 41 seconds left capping the stanza scoring. 
- In the third quarter, the Diplomats would get within three, 34-31, with 1:54 to go on a free throw by Lizzie Neville.  Serena Pluta would make both from the foul line with 38 seconds to go to give the visitors a 36-31 advantage heading into the fourth. 
- Quinn Galligan would tie the game, 36-36, 1:15 into the fourth on a three as F&M scored the first five points of the fourth.
- WC would respond with the next five points to take a 41-36 lead with 7:35 to go in the fourth on a conventional three-point play by Prestianne.
- The Diplomats would answer with eight straight points to take their first lead of the night, 44-41, on a three-pointer by Natalie Kolb.  The eight straight points started a 12-2 run that gave F&M a 48-43 edge with 2:15 to go on a traditional three-point play by Jaclyn Feit.
- After Washington made three free throws to cut it to 48-46, Galligan canned a triple with 23 ticks left to make it 51-46.
- Prestianne made a shot with 15 ticks left to cut it to 51-48 before Ally Trebelev sank one from the line to give the Diplomats a 52-48 edge.
- Kaitlyn Boggs was foul with 1.7 seconds left and made one to cut it to 52-49 and Lizzie Hudock rebounded the miss and was fouled with a half-second left.  Hudock made the first to trim it to 52-50, but was called for a lane violation after intentionally missing the second free throw and F&M was able to inbound the ball and run out the clock.

For The Shorewomen (12-11, 8-10 CC)
- Karry Kelliher (13 points), Prestianne (13 points), Joy Sanders (game-best 11 rebounds), Boggs (three steals)
- WC shot 30% from the floor (18-for-60), 13% from three-point range (1-for-8) and 65% (13-for-20) from the foul line in the game.
- The Shorewomen held a 52-31 advantage in rebounds, while turning it over 19 times.
- WC outscored Franklin & Marshall in points in the paint (18-6), second chance points (15-6), and transition points (9-0).

For Franklin & Marshall (9-13, 6-11 CC)
- Trebelev (13 points), Galligan (11 points), Feit (team-best seven rebounds and game-high six blocks), Rusas (three steals)
- The Diplomats shot 33% from the floor (16-for-49), 25% from three-point land (6-for-24) and 67% from the foul stripe (14-for-21).
- Franklin & Marshall had 16 turnovers in the game.
- The Diplomats outscored the Shorewomen in points off turnovers (15-14) and bench points (12-5).

Notes
- Sanders chalked up her fourth double-digit rebounding game of the season and the fifth of her career.
