Shoremen Never Trail in 14-11 over Elizabethtown

Garrison and Temple score hat-tricks in home win.

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College men's lacrosse team played host to Elizabethtown for a Wednesday night matchup on Kibler Field at Roy J. Kirby Stadium. Coming off of a home loss to Washington and Lee, the Shoremen bounced back with a home win in which they never trailed. Elizabethtown fought all night, coming back from three down to tie the game at nine. The Shoremen scored five of the games last seven goals to secure a 14-11 win.

How It Happened
- Luke Brennan got things started for the Shoremen after Luke Temple found him with a pass across goal. Elizabethtown answered immediately when Jacob Griffin scored after winning the faceoff. The Shoremen built a 4-2 lead halfway into the opening period before an Elizabethtown answered with two themselves to end the first quarter in a 4-4 tie. 
 
-The Shoremen started the second period on fire with three goals in a 1:09 span to take a 7-4 lead. The Blue Jays stopped the bleeding with a goal while a man-up. Ben O'Connor brought the Jays within one with just 2:35 remaining in the half. Luke Brennan answered with a man-up goal just under a minute later to give the Shoremen an 8-6 halftime lead. 
 
-The third quarter started with Gabe Velasquez taking the face-off all of the way for a goal in six seconds to put the Shoremen up 9-6. Riley Langen got the Jays back within two with 12:23 remaining and just under three minutes later Lucca Scomillio made it 9-8. With 4:50 left, Langen added a third straight for the Jays to tie the game at 9. Logan Clefisch halted the Jays run to put the Shoremen back up 10-9 in the final minute of the third quarter. 
 
-Connor Garrison started the fourth period with his third goal of the night to put the Shoremen back up two. Both teams traded goals to make it 12-10 Shoremen heading into the final ten minutes. Brady McFalls then pushed the Shoremen lead to three with a goal at the 9:31 mark. Mac Hale the added his first goal of the night to give the Shoremen their first four-goal lead of the night. 

For The Shoremen (2-1)
- Scoring: Ewan Temple (three goals, one assists), Connor Garrison (three goals) Luke Brennan (two goals) Brady McFalls (two goals) Logan Clefisch (one goal, one assist), Gabe Velasquez (one goal, one assist), Kain Domenech (one goal, one assist), Mac Hale with a goal and Tom Merritt with an assist. 
- In Goal: Cole Corrigan (60:00, 11 goals allowed, 11 saves) 
- Gabe Velasquez went 7-for-15 in face-offs and picked up a four ground balls. 
- Washington was 16-for-22 in clears in the contest and was 1-for-7 on the man-up.

For The Blue Jays (1-2)
- Scoring: Ryan Langen (four goals, four assists), Connor Stewart and Colin Kondracki two goals each. Ben O'Connor, Scomillo and Griffin with a goal. Alex Kilgour with an assist.  
- In Goal:  Brayden Franey (60:00, 15 goals allowed, 14 saves. 
- Jacob Griffin won 15-of-27 face-offs and picked up seven ground balls.  

Notes
- Ewan Temple was named GooseNationTV Player of the Game.
