Shoremen Open Florida Trip with 11-2 Win over Kenyon

Sofran deals as bats score 10 early in win.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Washington College baseball team opened up this season's Spring break trip in style with a 11-2 win over Kenyon. The Shoremen got the bats going early as Drew Kinsey and Chase Ruppel picked up first inning RBIs. Erik Risnychok plated two more in the second to push the lead to 4-0. A big rally in the fourth put the Shoremen up 10-0 and they managed the game from there to take the first of eight games in Florida.

How it Happened  
- Drew Kinsey singled in Noah Iseman to start things off in the first before Chase Ruppel doubled in Kinsey. In the second, delivered a 2-RBI single to plate Nick Miller and Cole McGee. 
-Anthony Sofran got the start for the Shoremen and the senior continued his great start to the campaign. Sofran went 7.0 innings surrendering two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven. 
-Iseman doubled in Risnychok to score the first of a six-run fourth. Elias Philiposian delivered a 2-RBI hit in the inning as the Shoremen went up 10-0 and cruised to the win from there. 

For the Shoremen 
Batting
- Noah Iseman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a pair of walks, an RBI and two runs scored. 
-Erik Risnychok, Drew Kinsey (one double) and Cole McGee (two doubles) each notched two hits. Kinsey and Risnychok both drove in and scored a pair of runs while McGee scored once. 
-Chase Ruppel had a double, RBI and run. Elias Philiposian had a single, two RBIs and a run. Scooter SanFilippo added a hit and Nick Miller added a run. 
-Risnychok, Iseman, Kinsey, SanFillippo, McGee and Ty Everitt each had a stolen base.  
Pitching
-Sofran picked up the win going 7.0 innings surrendering two earned runs on five hits, a walk and striking out seven. 

For Kenyon 
Hitting
- Parker Ellis finished 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.   
Pitching
-Jack Davidson started and picked up the loss, surrendering four earned in 2.0 innings. 
 
Up Next: 3/13 – Fort Pierce, Fla. – The Shoremen will take on Earlham at 5:00 p.m.
