SALISBURY Md.– Shorewomen softball travelled down the shore to take on top-ranked Salisbury in a Wednesday afternoon double header. Washington showed improvement in game two but were unable to blemish the Seagulls as the home team took both games.  Â

GAME ONE: Washington 1 Salisbury 17

How it happened:
-Salisbury jumped out to a big lead in the first two innings, scoring five in the first and seven in the second.
Â
-The Seagulls continued to add on throughout as they game ended after the five-inning mercy rule.
Gracelyn Goforth knocked in the. Shorewomen's lone run in the fourth. Â

For the Shorewomen

Jules Weglarz finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Â

Pitching:
Lexi Barnhart took the loss after giving up five earned in the first inning from six hits.
Gen Kozub allowed seven earned runs in 1.1 innings before Emmi Meeks provided 1.2 shutout innings of relief.Â

Abby Mace finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a walk.

Isabella Purdy took the win with two innings of shutout ball.

-Salisbury posted three runs in the first inning and a one in the second from a solo-homer by Emily Stockman.Â

Brynn Balliet kept the Shorewomen in the contest but the bats could never get going. Salisbury would later add some insurance to go up 6-. Washington loaded the bases in the seventh but could only scratch across a pair with RBIs from
Dee Raffaelli and
Alyssa Vieira before Salisbury ended the game.Â
