SWARTHMORE, Pa. –
Carter Strauch scored 19 seconds into overtime on a pass from
Jackson Brosgol for the golden goal to give host #16 Swarthmore a 14-13 extra session win over visiting Washington College on Wednesday evening in a Centennial Conference men's lacrosse contest on Wednesday night at Clothier Field. The Garnet, who tied it with 14 seconds remaining in regulation, are 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while the Shoremen are 8-5 and 2-3 respectively.

How It Happened
- Down 3-2, Washington scored the last two goals of the first quarter to lead 4-3 after one with
Connor Garrison scoring with 5:45 remaining.
- Swarthmore scored the first two goals of the second quarter to take a 5-4 lead with 7:06 to go on a Strauch score.
- Washington would score the next two goals to grab a 6-5 advantage with 89 seconds left on a
Ewan Temple tally, before
Von Mabbs would answer with 35 ticks to go on a pass from Liam Halstead to level it at 6-6.
- The Shoremen scored with 1.2 left to take a 7-6 lead into halftime as
Tom Merritt got a pass from Temple near the right side of the crease and put it home.
- Brogsol gave the hosts the lead back, 8-7, with 10:01 to go in the third as Swarthmore scored the first two goals of the quarter.
- The lead would only last 11 seconds as
Gabe Velasquez won the face-off and found Temple to tie it at 8-8 with 9:50 remaining. The goal ignited a 3-0 run as
Cory Morgan gave the visitors the lead at 9-8 with 6:54 to go and Temple capped the run on an unassisted score with 2:51 left.
- Brosgol would get one back for the Garnet 52 seconds after Temple's goal and WC would take a 10-9 lead into the fourth.
- In the fourth, Washington scored twice in six seconds to take a 12-9 lead as
Luke Brennan scored from
Tyler Bishop with 11:26 to go and six seconds later Velasquez won the face-off and scored off of it to give the visitors a three-goal advantage.
- Swarthmore would answer with the next three to level it at 12-12 as
Nolan Ohrman scored unassisted with 3:52 to go.
- The score remained 12-12 until
Brady McFalls was able to shake off his defender and score from the left side to put Washington ahead, 13-12, with 1:25 left in the fourth.
- Swarthmore won the ensuing face-off and with 14 seconds to go in regulation,
Clay Almgren was able to get to the doorstep and put it in to even it at 13-13 with Ohrman notching the helper.
- In overtime, the Garnet won the face-off via a violation by the Shoremen and Brosgol found Strauch at the top of the key and his shot found the back of the net for the walk-off score.

- The Shoremen outshot the hosts, 50-36, won 20 of 30 face-offs, held a 31-27 edge in ground balls and were 18-for-22 in clears.

- The Garnet were 19-for-23 in clears and 1-for-1 in man-up situations.
Notes
- Washington and Swarthmore have played five one-goal games since 2015. The Shoremen won by a goal in 2015 and 2022, while the Garnet prevailed in 2016, 2017 and 2023. All three from 2015-17 and tonight were settled in overtime.
