CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Washington College men's lacrosse team played host to the Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference matchup Wednesday night on Kibler Field. Both teams came into tonight tied for the fifth and final Centennial playoff spot. The Dips were able to build a three-goal first half lead but the Shoremen responded to tie it at five. F&M then scored twice on each side of halftime to go up four. Washington battled back again to bring it to 9-8 but the Dips went back up by a pair quick and would keep a multi-goal lead the rest of the way for a huge conference win.Â

How It Happened
- Tommy Garofalo started the scoring for F&M as he rocketing in the first goal of the contest. After six minutes of stalemate, Garofalo found the net again to give the Dips a 2-0 first period lead.
Connor Garrison got the Shoremen on the board after picking up a loose ball in front of net. The Dips tried to respond quick, taking the face-off all of the way to force
Cole Corrigan to save. The Dips kept the ball though and Will Mollihan found a hole in the defense to make it 3-1 Diplomats at the end of the first period.Â

Connor Garrison scored his second of the match after a save by Corrigan release
Tom Merritt up the field. Merritt dished to Garrison and he found the net to make it 3-2. The Dips would score the next two goals to take a 5-2 advantage. The Shoremen called timeout and quickly got a goal by
Brady McFalls to stop the Dips run and make it 5-3. The Shoremen won the draw after the goal and
Cory Morgan rifled them to within one goal at 5-4. McFalls then found a cutting
Connor Garrison to give the junior his hat-trick and tie the game at five. The Dips answered with two goals in the final minute of the half to take a 7-5 lead at the break.Â

-The Dips opened up the third period with goal in the first minute to restore their three-goal lead at 8-5. Another finish put the Dips up 9-5 with 11 minutes remaining in the third period. A
Luke Brennan goal stopped the four-goal run by the Dips.
Trevor Ivatts then found
Brady McFalls to make it a 9-7 contest halfway through the third. Five seconds later, the Shoremen were within one as
Gabe Velasquez took the faceoff the length of the field. The Dips restored their two-goal lead through Liam Timmins with five and half minutes remaining in the third. F&M the built their third three-goal lead when Kyle Russell scored in the final minute of the third period to make it 11-8 Dips.Â

-The Dips struck first in the fourth as Will Mulligan scored with a run from behind the goal with just three seconds on the shot clock. After five minutes of little action,
Cory Morgan scored his second goal to make it 12-9 Dips with just under five minutes remaining. After the Shoremen timeout,
Connor Garrison notched his fourth goal to make it 12-10 with four minutes remaining. The Shoremen then pushed for another but the Dips got a stop and goal from Liam Timmins.
Tom Merritt answered quick to bring it back within two with just over two minutes remaining. Washington got a clean look with a minute left but Mueller made a great save and the Dips controlled and called timeout with just over thirty seconds remaining. The Dips ran out the remaining seconds for the win.Â
