Shoremen Drop Pair at Dickinson

Washington battles in game two but come up short.

CARLISE, Pa.– Washington College baseball opened up the Centennial Conference schedule with a double header at Dickinson. Anthony Sofran got the start for the Shoremen and worked six strong innings before Dicksinson broke the game open late to take game one 12-1. The Shoremen rallied from 7-1 down in game two but could not cash in a bases loaded chance in the eigth to complete the comeback in a 9-6 defeat. 

GAME ONE: Washington 1 Dickinson 12

How it happened:
-Sofran started the game strong, holding the Red Devils to just one run through four innings. The Devils were able to scratch across two in the fifth and another in the sixth to jump out 4-0. 

-Two more in the seventh pushed the lead to 6-0 before the Shoremen notched their first run via an RJ Fiore ground out. 

-Dickinson broke the game open with six in the eighth to build a 12-1 lead. 

For the Shoremen
Batting: 
- Cole McGee went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Nick Miller added the Shoremen's only other hit. Drew Kinsey and Elias Philiposian each walked once. 

Pitching: 
-Sofran took the loss with 6.0 innings on the bump. Four runs (three earned) from nine hits and three walks finished out his line.  

For Dickinson
Batting: 
-Kaden Sigmon finished 4-for-6 with a pair of RBIs and runs scored. 

Pitching:
-Ethan Hamilton took the win with 7.0 innings of two-hit, two-walk ball. One run scored while Hamilton struck out seven. 

GAME TWO: Washington 6 Dickinson 9
 
How it Happened:
-Dickinson jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. Washington responded quickly with a Ty Everitt RBI single in the second to tie things up.
 
-The Devils offense answered with a run in the second, three in the third and another two in the fourth to take a commanding 7-1 lead. 
 
-The Shoremen got back into the game in the sixth with three runs. Elias Philiposian, Ty Everitt and Reese Hirsh each drove in one run. Dickinson answered again with two in the bottom half to push the lead to 9-4. 
 
-Washington's last threat came in the eight with the bases loaded and one out. Reese Hirsh and Ty Everitt both walked to bring in a run but the rest were stranded by the Devil's bullpen. Washington went down in order in the ninth as Dickinson took the win. 
 
For the Shoremen
Batting:
-Reese Hirsh finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a walk. Everitt also brought in two with a 1-for-3 day at the plate and a walk.
 
-Cole McGee and Elias Philiposian each had a pair of hits and runs score. Scooter SanFilippo and Nick Miller each had a hit with SanFilippo scoring a run and Miller driving in one. 
 
Pitching:
-Izaiah Santiago took the loss, surrendering six earned runs in 4.0 innings from eight hits and pair of walks. The lefty registered five strikeouts. 
 
For Dickinson
Batting:
-Andrew Mazzone finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, walks and a run scored. 
 
Pitching:
-Koll Peichel took the win, surrendering four runs from ten hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in 5.0 innings. 
 
Up Next: 4/4 – #6 Johns Hopkins. The Shoremen continue Centennial play with a home matchup against the Blue Jays. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
