CHESTERTOWN, Md.– Washington College baseball took on fourth ranked Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference home opener at Athey Park. The Shoremen were in the game until the fifth inning when Hopkins homered five times. They would continue to add on runs throughout in a 25-0 win.
GAME ONE: Washington 0 Hopkins 25
How it happened:

Ashton Mehler started off by allowing just two runs through three innings. Hopkins got a pair in the fourth the end Mehler's day at three earned runs in four innings. For Hopkins, starting pitcher Matt Savedoff held the Shoremen to just one hit through five innings.
-Hopkins broke the game open in the fifth with three straight homers. Isaiah Winikur started it off with a three-run homer before Matthew Cooper and Dillion Souvignier followed with solo shots. Three batters later James Stevens added another three-run homer to make it 13-0. Sam Frank added another solo-shot.
-Hopkins extended the lead to 17-0 in the sixth. The Jays would continue to add runs throughout the remainder of the game.
For the Shoremen

Drew Kinsey finished 1-for-2.
Pitching:
-Mehler took the loss. His final line was 4.0 innings pitched with four earned runs from five hits and five walks with five strikeouts.
For Hopkins
Batting:
- Dillion Souvignier finished 4-for-5 with a pair of homers, four RBIs and three runs scored.
Pitching:
- Matt Savedoff took the win with 5.0 innings of one hit ball. One walk and six strikeouts finished his line.
