Shoremen Drop Pair at Muhlenberg

Shoremen swept in final road games of the season.

ALLENTOWN, Pa.– Washington College baseball hit the road for the final time today as they played two at Muhlenberg. The Mules wasted little time in game one, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the second. They would eventually lead 8-0 on their way to a 12-2 win. In game two, Muhlenberg jumped out 5-0 again with a rally in the first. They would continue to add on throughout the game on their way to a 15-1 win. 

GAME ONE: Washington 2 Muhlenberg 12

How it happened:

-Senior pitcher Andrew Lerario got the start for the Shoremen and worked a scoreless first inning. The righty ran into trouble in inning two though, surrendering four earned runs. The arms for the Shoremen struggled to throw strikes, walking 10 Mules throughout the game. 

-A Ryan Riccio double plated two Mules in the fourth to send the lead to 7-0. The Shoremen plated a run in both the sixth and seventh inning through RBIs by Cole McGee and Elias Philiposian to make it 8-2. 

-The Mules added on late to take game one 12-2. 

For the Shoremen
Batting: 
- Scotter SanFilippo finished 2-for-3 with a run.  
-Nick Miller added a hit and run. Cole McGee, Chase Ruppel, Luke Herz, Elias Philiposian and Andrew Wenger each added a hit.  
Pitching: 
-Lerario took the loss for the Shoremen, working 1.1 innings and giving up four earned runs from three hits and a pair of walks.    

For Muhlenberg
Batting: 
-Ryan Riccio finished 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and run scored. 
Pitching:
-Jayden Barroqueiro took the win, working 5.0 shutout innings. 

GAME TWO: Washington 1 Muhlenberg 15
 
How it Happened:
- The Mules scored five in the first inning. Chase Ruppel homered in the second inning for the Shoremen's lone run. Rallies in the fourth and fifth extended to the Muhlenberg lead as they cruised to a 15-1 win. 
 
For the Shoremen
Batting:
 
- Ruppel finished 1-for-2 with a solo-homer. Luke Herz added a hit and Reese Hirsh reached twice hit a hit and walk. 
 
Pitching:
- Alex Martin took the loss, surrendering five earned runs in 3.0 innings from eight hits and three walks. 
 
For Muhlenberg
Batting:
-Jack Kent and Jonathan Toth both finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored. 
 
Pitching:
- Five Muhlenberg pitchers combined to hold the Shoremen to one run from three hits.
