Shoremen Earn Split with Swarthmore

Game one comeback win capped off by Iseman walk-off.

CHESTERTOWN, Md.– Washington College baseball played host to Swarthmore for a Centennial Conference double header at Athey Park. Game one seemed to be heading to the Garnet before an eighth inning rally by the Shoremen tied the game up at five. Both teams scored in the ninth before Noah Iseman drove in the winning run for the Shoremen in the tenth to take game one 7-6. Game two went to Swarthmore after a seven run eighth inning broke the game open in a 9-3 win.

How it happened:
-Anthony Sofran took the mound for Washington in game one. Swarthmore tagged the senior for three early runs in the first and second innings. The Shoremen pulled two back in the bottom of the second with RBIs from Chase Ruppel and Ty Everitt.
-Swarthmore scratched across two more in the fifth after taking advantage of some Shoremen errors. Washington got one in the seven through a Drew Kinsey RBI single. In the bottom of the eight, Ty Everitt delivered a clutch two-RBI double to tie the game at five.
-The Garnet came back to score in the ninth to make it 6-5. With two in the bottom of the ninth, Cole McGee punched a single into right field to score one, Noah Iseman tried to score from second but was thrown out at home.
