The coxswain and varsity eight rowers from the men's rowing team's share this week's Shoreman of the Week. The varsity eight won the Petite Final at the MARC Championship on Sunday in Lorton, Va.
The boat won its race in 6:49.50, 5.30 seconds better than second place Milwaukee School of Engineering in the 2000-meter race.
The varsity eight boat consisted of sophomore coxswain Patrick Beene (Burke, Va./Lake Brddock), junior rower Garrett Cole (Millington, Md./Queen Anne's County), freshman rower Andrew Ellestad (Damascus, Md./Damascus), sophomore rower Noah Gentry (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood), sophomore rower Will Granados (Worcester, Mass./Saint John's), senior Jonathan Miranda (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit), sophomore Markus Norberg (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills), freshman Joseph Woodmansee (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and junior Emmett Wurster (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox).
Cole and Wurster have received Shoreman of the Week honors four times, Gentry and Granados are now three-time recipients of the weekly award, Beene has garnered the recognition twice, while Ellestad, Miranda, Norberg and Woodmansee earned the weekly honor for the first time.
