CARLISLE, Pa. – Third seeded Washington College utilized efficient production from the offense to defeat the hosting Dickinson Red Devils, the second seed, Thursday evening in their opening game of the Centennial Conference Softball Tournament at Dickinson Park. The Shorewomen put together seven runs in the victory, while holding the Red Devils to five. The win seals up at least two more games for the Shorewomen during the tournament, who will play fifth seeded Swarthmore for a spot in the championship on Saturday, while Dickinson will be facing a win or go home for the remainder of the postseason on Saturday versus top seeded Ursinus.

How it Happened
- Shorewomen struck early as
Lexi Barnhart doubled to right center in the top of the first inning to clear the bases as
Gracelyn Goforth, Lexi Witmer, and Alyssa Viera scored on the hit to give the Shorewomen an early 3-0 lead over the Red Devils.
- Dickinson responded in the home half of the first as
Eden Blanker doubled to left center to score
Devon Kueny, making it 3-1.
- Washington College continued to produce on offensive in the second inning as
Lilly Cook hit an infield single, stealing second during the next at bat.
- Viera extended the lead for the Shorewomen as she hit a triple to right center field to score Cook to gain a 4-1 advantage.
- With two outs in the top of the second inning Witmer drove home Viera with a single hit to left field as the Shorewomen took a 5-1 lead.
- In the top of the third Cook hit a softly hit single to left field, giving the Shorewomen a 6-1 lead as Barnhart came across to score.
- With one out in the bottom of the third, Blanker cut into the Washington College lead, 6-2, with a solo homerun to left field.
- After
Abby Kohan hit a single down the left field line with two outs in the third,
Zoe Kleeblatt hit a double into the gap in left center to score Kohan to make it 6-3.
- Washington College added to their lead to make it 7-3 in the top of the fifth when Cook singled through the middle to score
Jenna Harper.
- The Red Devils cut into the deficit in the bottom of the sixth when
Jen Klepfer grounded out to Goforth, scoring Kleeblatt. Kueny continued the two out rally with an infield single to third base that scored
Emily Whelan, making it 7-5.
- Dickinson got the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but could not score and the Shorewomen came away with the two-run win.
