Shorewomen Draw in Season Opener Versus Mustangs, 1-1

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Stevenson and host Washington College each scored once in the second in a 1-1 tie on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday evening.  It was the season opener for both the Mustangs and Shorewomen.

How It Happened
- Stevenson had the best chance in the opening half to score with 10:17 left a Cassidy Butler hit a shot off the crossbar from about 20 yards out.  The two teams were tied 0-0 at halftime.
- Butler was fouled in the box in the 50th minute by a WC defender and the Mustangs were awarded a penalty kick.  Karly Sheahan netted the penalty kick into the left side of the goal with 40:14 remaining in the second half to make it 1-0. 
- The Shorewomen nearly leveled it with 24:18 to go, but Mustangs defender Taylor Reider was able to stop a shot by Amity Harrington to keep it 1-0.
- Washington would tie the game exactly 90 seconds later as Reagan Longridge gathered the ball and her shot from 25 yards out went into the upper central part of the net.
- Kamille Purcell had the final shot on goal of the game with 2:57 left for Stevenson, but was saved by WC goalie Olivia Allen.
- Audrey Flanagan had the last shot of the contest with 1:21 left for the hosts, but it sailed high.

For The Shorewomen (0-0-1)
- Scorers: Longridge (goal)
- Goalkeepers: Hailey Sharpe (0 saves, 1 goal allowed, 57:22), Allen (2 saves, 0 goals allowed, 32:38) 
- Totaled 14 shots and six corner kicks for the match. 

For Stevenson (0-0-1)
- Scorers: Sheahan (goal)
- Goalkeeper: Courtney Wysokowski (4 saves, 1 goal allowed, 90:00)
- Team save by Reider.
- Took nine shots and four corner kicks in the contest.

Notes
- Tonight was the third straight year the two teams played in the season opener.  WC is 2-0-1 in the three games.
